The town of Jinka is a crossroad of different geographical area. Close to the mountains of Senegal above 3000mts, is also the door to the wide savannah area of Mago National Park in the lowland. Different environments, different people. The Ari, proficient farmers and craftsmen, are living in the highlands, the nomadic Mursi are living in the lowlands. Their particular and exotic body decoration, as well their charming rituals, make them very popular in the western countries.
ACCOMODATION STANDARD: There is only one Medium-high range eco-lodge with limited availability. Medium low hotels are available in the city. Camping in a village is advisable for informal travellers looking for a close up experience.
WEATHER: The rainy season in the south is in April and May. Nevertheless, in the city of Jinka is also exposed to frequent rains during the European summer. It is possible to travel to Jinka and Mursi villages year round, but during the rainy season a 4×4 is strictly necessary. Temperatures range between 14º at night to a maximum of 30º in the daytime.
