Harar

The fortified city of Harar is a microcosm of sensations and experiences… life here flows at a different pace… Colours, smells and encounters are different from any other place in Ethiopia. Until the end of the XIX century the access was forbidden to non-Muslim, and the old town grew up with a particular and special style that you cannot find elsewhere in Ethiopia. Lose your path in the coloured labyrinth of the old town, or just let yourself be surrounded by the smells and the charm of its markets.
A visit to the Marvel Valley of Babile will offer the chance to enjoy the unique landscape of the region.

ACCOMODATION STANDARD: There are some medium-low range hotels inside the old city with some charm, and a new medium range hotel outside the city. Better standard but less integrated in the city. Cultural guest houses in the old town can be an option for those interested in getting involved in the informal Harar lifestyle.

WEATHER: The rain pattern in Harar is similar to the north, from June to mid-September. Nevertheless, is possible to visit Harar year round, since during the rainy season most of precipitation is in the afternoon-evening, so they don’t usually affect the program. Temperatures range between 12ºat night to a maximum of 27º in the daytime.
